10 Prettiest Pink Flowers for Your Garden

Updated: May 2

There’s something quietly enchanting about the color pink in a garden—it softens the edges of the world and brings a touch of vintage romance. In the spirit of the cottagecore life, where tea is sipped slowly and mornings are spent amongst the blooms, I’ve gathered a collection of ten lovely pink flowers that bring charm and whimsy to any garden. These blossoms, whether delicate or bold, perennial or fleeting, each tell their own gentle story, swaying in the breeze and calling bees and butterflies alike. If your dream garden is one of romance and seasonal delight, these pink darlings will feel right at home.

1. Dianthus

Pink Dianthus

Dianthus is the vintage sweetheart. The way their ruffled edges and many pink tones seem to whisper of garden parties and sun-warmed stone paths. With their clove-like fragrance and sweet charm, they bring both scent and color to the cottage garden. Some varieties (like Sweet William and Cheddar pinks) are perennial, while others are biennial or annual. Check your variety to know what to expect. There are a variety of colors, and a variety of pinks! There is a lovely variety of pink Dianthus available at Burpee.

2. Bleeding Hearts

Pink Bleeding Heart

Bleeding Hearts bloom from late spring to early summer and are easy to grow! They are a perennial that grows in clusters and are happy in partial shade. Available in all white, or pink hearts with white drops. I have both in my garden! I always enjoy seeing them come back year after year. There are pink bleeding hearts available at Eden Brothers, but you'll need to plant them early spring or fall.

3. Hydrangea

Pink Hydrangea

Hydrangeas can be a show-stopping perennial for your garden and can provide you with lots of blooms to bring into the house! Looking at this picture, the blooms remind me of butterflies gathered together. Hydrangeas are available at your local nursery, although Burpee does have a selection to choose from.

4. Peony

Pink Peony

Peonies are lush, elegant, and brimming with old-fashioned romance. There are many varieties of pink peonies from dark pink to the lightest pink. Their big fluffy blooms are a favorite amongst gardeners, some being passed down from Grandma's garden. Peonies like to be in the sun. I always recommend to people to plant them far from the house as ants are what help the peony bud open. Eden Brothers have a large variety of beautiful pink peonies available. While you're there look at all the other colors too!

5. Poppies

Pink Poppy

Pink poppies, with their papery petals and dark centers, bring a delicate burst of color to the garden, as if they’ve drifted in from a storybook meadow. I haven't tried growing poppies yet, but I have it on my list to do! They are loved by the bees and butterflies and are said to be easy to grow! If you live in a moderate climate they will be a well-loved perennial, but if you live in a place with snowy winters they will be an annual. Do your research for your zone though because there are many different types and some will return after the snow! A beautiful variety of pink ones are available at Eden Brothers

6. Ranunculus

Pink Ranunculus

Ranunculus blooms look like they’ve been stitched together by a fairy’s hand—layer upon layer of silky, ruffled petals in every shade of pink. I've looked at a couple of suppliers and Eden Brothers has the best selection of Ranunculus. Ranunculus can be planted in either the fall or the spring and like full sun. It has a sturdy stem that makes it easy to use as a cut flower and as an added bonus, Ranunculus are usually scentless or lightly scented, meaning they're the ideal cut flower for people who are sensitive to strong smells! There are many shades of pink available at Eden Brothers

7. Begonia

Pink Begonia

Begonias are a pretty flower for containers, especially the double blooms! Begonia thrive in partial shade to shade. One thing I noticed about Begonia is that you have to be careful about overwatering, or too much rain. If the dirt is too wet the stem rots and breaks. Drainage is important in your container. I put my begonias at the back of the yard where its shady. Begonias will be a perennial in zones 8 through 11, but those in zones 3 to 8 can overwinter the tubers. You can order your tubers from Longfield Gardens, I love "Hanging Pink Balcony"

8. Hollyhock

Pink Hollyhock

Hollyhocks stand with quiet majesty, their pink blooms reaching skyward. With stems that can soar up to six feet, they are the towering presence in a cottage garden A classic partner for clematis, dahlias and other mid-summer bloomers. These sun-loving beauties are a bi-annual, or short-lived perennial; but the good news is that they will re-seed themselves each year! You can get seeds from Eden Brothers or bare roots from Longfield Gardens

9. Lily

Pink Lily

With their regal stature and delicate fragrance, they stand as a symbol of elegance in any garden, like something plucked from a romantic painting of an old country estate. One of the most loved and recognizable lilies, the Stargazer is a perennial that likes sun to part shade. It grows on sturdy 3-foot stems, and is a long-lasting lily in the garden; and in a vase. The fragrant blooms appear mid to late summer. There are lots of pretty varieties of lilies available at Longfield Gardens

10. Lily of the Valley

Pink Lily of the Valley

Lily of the Valley is my birth month flower and I am happy to have the whites ones in my garden. I didn't even know the pink version existed! They are really pretty. These flowers act the same as the white ones, meaning that once they are established they will multiply over the years. They are a ground cover plant, that likes part sun to full shade. The description says they are rare and hard to supply - available at Burpee!

Whether your garden is a sprawling countryside haven or a quiet corner tucked beside your porch, these pink flowers bring more than just color—they bring feeling. A sense of calm, a touch of romance, and the quiet joy of nurturing something beautiful. In true cottagecore fashion, tending to them becomes less of a chore and more of a ritual—a quiet moment to reconnect with nature and yourself. With each season, your garden will become a living poem, stitched together with petals and perfume. So plant what you love, and let your heart bloom right alongside the flowers.

Happy Gardening,

Tricia
